Story

In January 2016 Alicia's mum Jennie, got diagnosed with a form of cancer called
a soft tissue sarcoma. Sarcomas are a rare form of cancer with only around 2300 diagnosed every year in the UK.

Jennie is being treated at Oswestry hospital and the Macmillan nurses and staff have been a huge help and support to the family so far. The operation to remove the tumour was in February and the charity organised a private room for her for 3 weeks after the operation to aid her recovery. As well as this they are were a
huge support during her radiotherapy in Manchester.

Cancer now affects 1 in 2 people. Without charities like Macmillan, Alicia's family would be without both the financial and emotional support to stay positive during this difficult time. In order to show our
appreciation, Alicia, Matthew and James will be running the Royal Parks 2016 half marathon on 9th October to raise awareness and money for this great charity and give back to an organisation who would not exist without fundraising and donations.

Without wanting to sound like the Supermarket giant, "Every Little Helps" and we will be eternally grateful for all donations, big or small. Cancer will unfortunately touch all of us at some point in our lives and it is not until it did, that Alicia truly understood the importance of charities like Macmillan. Please support this amazing charity as we want them to be able to support families for many years to come.

Thank you in advance for all of your donations.

Soft tissue sarcomas are cancers that develop from cells in the soft, supporting tissues of the body. They can occur in soft tissues such as fat, muscle, nerves, fibrous tissues, blood vessels or in any of the other tissues that support, surround and protect the organs of the body. My mum was diagnosed with a leiomysarcoma which is a smooth muscle sarcoma and is one of the more common sarcomas.
