London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
Hi
I need your help! I was born in Kinshasa in democratic Republic of Congo. In 1994 my family were forced to leave. We arrived in the UK when my childhood was spent looking after my brothers and sisters. I was in foster care for 3 years and now I'm a qualified social worker, church outreach worker and youth worker (teaching street dance).
The reason why I'm writing this,is because I too did not have a good start in life but, I did not give up because of the love, and support that I received from friends, family and professionals.
I'm going to run 26.5 miles because I like taking challenges & I like to be crazy! It's amazing how I got this opportunity, in taking part in London marathon it has always been something that I've always dreamt of doing and now I have the opportunity.
One of my aims in life is to overcome fears that I have and try achieve things that are beyond imagination. I have a passion for children and young people and I would love to raise above £2,000 to support the charity. I believe in every child and I want to raise this money to send a message to all children and young people who have experienced a life of neglect. I want them to know that they are valuable and they too can win the race of life no matter how hard the road is ahead.
I believe in life it is not how we start the race but, it's how we finish it. Can you spare anything at all to encourage, support and help me achieve this.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
God bless
Alidja
