Great North Run 2016 · 11 September 2016 ·

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - over 8 million people. For 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated. More recently we have funded essential eczema research.

Story

I will be taking part in Great North Run in September this year raising money for Eczema Society which is a charity helping people who have been suffering from this debilitating condition. A lot of people think that eczema means only dry and itchy skin, however eczema in most cases is a hell on earth for sufferers and their families.  Eczema means constant pain, inflamed and itchy skin, constant infections as well as sleepless nights due to pain and itch. Our son Olaf was born with this skin disorder and his severe eczema began to show just a few weeks after birth. Olaf and us as parents have  come a long way and thankfully his eczema is more manageable because of  diet and a very new and successful treatment  invented by dermatologist Richard Aron.  I have written a blog which describes Olaf's journey through eczema: https://battlingagainsteczema.wordpress.com/about/

Thank you for your donations and  support! Hopefully one day eczema will become a curable condition....
