This is Tess.  Tess is nearly 12 years old and recently came into rescue as she was not able to stay with her old family. We are fostering Tess and unfortunately, when we took Tess for a check up with our vet, it was noticed that her teeth were very bad.  She had several large abscesses in her mouth and quite a few of Tess's teeth were rotten, which must have been causing a lot of pain - although Tess has never complained. 

Tess was booked into the vet for treatment, and yesterday, 17th February,  Tess had the first part of her dental surgery. She had 17 teeth removed and the abscesses drained. Tess was in the operating theatre for nearly 5 hours with two vets operating on her.  Although the vet was kind enough to keep the bill as low as possible, the amount of time it took to operate, and all the medications like pain relief and antibiotics etc mean that LRRSE now have a vet bill of almost £1000 - and that is just for this part of the treatment.  The next part of the treatment will involve further dental extractions, gum treatment and the remaining teeth being descaled. The bill for the next part of the treatment is also likely to be £1000.

Alan and I have contributed to Tess's vet bill, but we need to raise the rest via Just Giving,  as Labrador Retriever Rescue Southern England is a relatively small charity which relies entirely on donations to keep going,  All donations made via my Just Giving page will go directly to Labrador Retriever Rescue Southern England and if I do manage to meet the target, any remaining money will help LRRSE rescue other Labradors in need.
