My Mum started to help on my camping trips when I was a Girl Guide in Ramsgate.  It was Mum's first time camping and she'd often lose her torch, hair brush etc. and then we'd find them latter inside her sleeping bag.  We were both given Guide names in a special initiation ceremony, my name was Muntjac and Mum's was Sika,

Mum carried on helping out on guide camp, usually in the cook tent as chief stoker and butterer of endless slices of bread for packed lunches and soon gained a whole new circle of friends with Trefoil Guild.  This circle of friends took her on days out and even on holidays.  When my Dad died they arranged for her to plant one of his home grown oak trees at the East Kent campsite in Mystole.

Mum spent most of her life in Ramsgate but moved to Bristol to join me when she was 93 and she was introduced then to new friends in the Portishead Trefoil Guild and she enjoyed meetings and newletters right up until 20 March 2023 when she sadly passed away age 97.

In memory of Mum and her long and happy life I've chosen to fundraise for GirlGuiding because of the life skills, fun and friendship that we have both enjoyed.
