Story
At the height of the Covid-19 lockdowns, the 'Everyone In' campaign led to most rough sleepers experiencing safe and clean accommodation, sometimes for the first time in years. The benefits of access to the day to day amenities that we all tend to take for granted were making themselves felt for many, but then as lockdown ended, so did support for the campaign. Now homelessness and rough sleeping are both on the rise, and with spiralling cost of living and increased numbers of refugees seeking sanctuary, we can assume this trend is likely to continue, at least for now.
Porchlight and CEO Sleepout are both charities that seek to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as campaigning to raise funds and awareness of this most crucial challenge.
This May I am participating in two events aiming to raise funds for both: firstly, the CEO Sleepout at Leeds Castle on 12th May and secondly, the London 2 Brighton Ultra Marathon on 28th May, when my good friend Sarah Williams has kindly agreed to come and walk the continuous 100km / 24 hour route with me - you star Sarah, I hope you are still speaking to me at the end of it!
Any donation you would like to make will be so gratefully received by Porchlight, CEO Sleepout and their service users, thank you so much.
