Story

Last September I was in a wheelchair with no idea if I would walk again

This September I will be participating in Day One (10 miles) of the North Devon Coastal Challange to raise money for Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

Multiple Sclerosis has put me in a wheelchair more than once, and has already deprived me of most of my eyesight and left me in permanant pain, but last September I was in the middle of the longest spell in a wheelchair I have had to date and I was terrified. I'm lucky. I have wonderful family and friends who have worked with me to regain my independance and stood by my side as I took my first unsteady steps.

In Febuary I got my little Partner in Crime, Alfie, a daschund cross who took his first outside steps as I was starting to take mine. On the good days we go on adventures and on the bad days he never leaves my side. Multiple Sclerosis has taken so many things away from me, and Alfie has given so many of them back.

My brother told me that these 10 miles may as well be Mount Everest, and he is right. It will be a struggle, and it will be extremely hard.

Learning to walk again is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do, and it makes me smile so, so much to think that last Spetember, 2012, I couldn't walk to the kitchen and this September, 2013, I will be walking along a 10 mile stretch of beautiful coastline.

So please help me reach my £2,000 target. We take so many things for granted. Walking is certainly one of them but the unconditional love that animals show to the people they meet is another. The cost of the walk and lodginings is £160 which will be taken from the total, so that means that £1,840 will be going straight into the paws of Bath Cats and Dogs Homes many residents.

Even the smallest donation is very gratefully received, and who knows, we may even pass the £2,000 mark. Now that would be truly amazing.

Thank you,

All our love Alison Katy & Alfie
