Story
Alistair Swain & Stephen Scatliffe of Scatliffe & Swain Fencing & Landscaping in Lincoln have decided it is time to try and raise some money for an incredibly brave young mans legacy.
We have always felt strongly about supporting worthy causes in any way we can and together we decided what sort of challenge we can do to raise money to contribute towards a local charity, so that they can continue to run efficiently and effectively, raising awareness and offering support to those who need it.
Ethan Maull's story touched our hearts and the reason we have chosen to help his charity 'Ethan Maull's up yours to cancer" is due to Ethan's drive to help others even when he was the one that needed the help. It makes us realise just how lucky we are to have good health, so if we can help this very worthy cause get one step closer to their goal then it will be all worthwhile for us.
The Challenge
Due to me and Steve not being built to run or swim or exercise in any way, we had to come up with a challenge that was more suited to us.
Me and Steve Will be leaving lincoln on the 10th of September on our honda Cub 90s with nothing more than a few spare parts, a tent and the determination to complete our challenge!
We will take a steady 2 day Ride from Lincoln to John O Groats covering the 562.2 non motorway Miles. We will then rest for one day and prep the bikes ready for the real Challenge!
On Tuesday the 13th of September we will be leaving John o Groats attempting to cover the 958miles to Lands End in just 48 Hours. The route chosen does not involve any motorway riding and the bikes have a top speed of around 45mph, so this could be a mammoth challenge mentally and physically on the body and also a challenge for the small 90cc Motorcycles.
The 48 hours will consist of around 30 hours of riding (without fuel stops & Breakdowns) and very little sleep.
When the challenge is complete we will then have a steady 2 day ride back to lincoln on the bikes covering an additional 413 non Motorway miles.
The total miles that will be covered on the trip (if we don't get lost) will be a minimum of 2000 miles.
Finally, Me and Steve will be personally funding the trip covering the costs of the bikes, fuel, fundraising materials, spares Etc so every single penny donated goes to the charity. We hope that our efforts are enough to get people to donate to this very worthy cause.
