Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Your Allendale Fire Crew is made up of your family, friends and colleagues. We live in the community among you and dedicate our time to help and support you through those unforeseen emergencies, whenever you need us. But have you ever wondered who looks after us when we need that little bit of extra help? The Fire Fighters Charity, that's who!!

The Fire Fighters Charity provides confidential, personalised support to the fire service community and their families.....FOR LIFE.            They deliver mental health, physical health and social wellbeing services not only at their centres, but also remotely and within communities across the UK. They aim to ensure that we live well and are there to support all members of the fire service - serving, retired or dependant - in our time of need. And that folks is why we want to give something back!!!!

So, as a crew we have decided to take on something that will challenge us both physically and mentally and, on the 3rd September this year, we will start The National 3 Peaks Challenge, finishing within 24 hours.

The aim is to start the challenge at the foot of Ben Nevis at 5pm on Friday 3rd September 2021. We will then hike to the peak and back down by 10pm when we will then travel to The Lake District. On arrival in The Lakes, hopefully before 4am on the 4th, we will then ascend Scafell Pike, getting back to the bus for 8am and setting off to Wales and the final peak of Snowdon. Hopefully, we should be ready to start the ascent of Snowdon by 1pm and aim to climb up and back down again before the 24 hours period elapses at 5pm. All times are approximate and hopefully, god willing, with a fair wind and staying injury free, we should complete each section in less time.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.

Please donate whatever you can to help us make this a success and to ensure that The Fire Fighters Charity can keep doing what they do.

REMEMBER, YOU ARE HELPING US, TO HELP THEM, TO HELP US SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO HELP YOU!!!
