My 100km Hadrian's Wall Country trek for CoppaFeel

CoppaTrek! with Gi - Hadrian's Wall Country · 10 June 2023 to 16 June 2023 ·
Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!
In January my close friend, Sam, was diagnosed with cancer. Since then she has taken on the ultimate challenge of battling this horrible disease that affects one in two people at some point in their lifetime.
Those that know Sam will know she is a bodacious babe! Someone that is always there for others. She will cheer you on and celebrate your achievements. Laugh with (and sometimes at) you when times are good and hold your hand when you need support. I have told Sam if love could heal she would be cancer free. Luckily she is a force to be reckoned with and cancer, she is out to get you.
As a friend I felt pretty powerless to help Sam, and so, at about 4am one chilly January morning when I saw this challenge I had a lightbulb moment. Whilst I can't fight this battle for her, I can raise awareness and so, without reading all the finer details, I put in an application for the CoppaTrek in Northumberland and was successful!
This June I will set out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing trek, all in the name of checking chests! I will be taking on 100km of the rugged and unforgiving Hadrian's Wall Country in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission. Not only that but I will also be camping, sharing a three (wo)man tent with someone I've never met before. Now, dear reader, those that know me will be aware I am not a camper. My last camping experience would have been a night in the garden at about the age of 10 so this experience very much comes in multiple parts and will be mind over matter. However difficult it is I will have Sam in mind, the challenges that she's having to face every day and the knowledge that what I'm going through is so much easier than chemo.
Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel!. They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal. Thanks so much for your donation & support. To find out more about CoppaFeel! head to www.coppafeel.org.
