Story
So, I have long hair. And I wash it a lot. When we decided to cut down our plastic usage for Lent, I asked friends for tips. “Use shampoo soap” someone said. So I looked into it. Cutting out plastic is tricky to do. We really were casting the net wide. But then I started looking into shampoo itself and found out that some of the anti bacterials in shampoo and soap can be toxic for aquatic life. As Orchard House is raising money for Blue Marine this year, I decided to go the whole hog with my hair. And believe me I feel revolting saying this - I WILL NOT BE WASHING MY HAIR FOR A MONTH (gags gently).
I’m told my hair will naturally regulate. I’m told it will become thick, lustrous and silky. But having watched my hair become its own environmental hazard when I leave it unwashed for more than 2 days, I am somewhat sceptical. So, here goes I am posting this on day 3 of unwashedness. And for one month from today, there will be no shampoo, for Blue.
So if you see me at the school gate or in the street or at work and think “my goodness, she has no sense of self care”, think again. I’m in it for the long run!!!
