Story
Every year since Daniel lost his battle to colon cancer, Cate and Amanda make RunDisney's Eine & Dine 10k a mother/daughter weekend. We run through the parks we loved as a family and make new memories. Last year we decided to make a difference while we run and signed up to run on the Scott Carter Foundation's team. Thanks to COVID - this is take 2. Below is Scott's story. I think he and Daniel would have gotten along very well!
Scott Carter was a 13-year old boy who died in December 1993 after a courageous three-year battle with bone cancer. During the duration of his illness, he put together a remarkable collection of sports and celebrity memorabilia which he called Scott Carters Heroes. His dream was to display the collection for the enjoyment of the public and to raise money for childrens cancer research. For many years, his collection was on display at Wide World of Sports. While it is no longer on display, we continue to travel to WDW to participate in runDisney events! SCF is run by volunteers so almost all money raised goes toward funding for childhood cancer research. We are looking for less toxic treatments, new drug development, and ultimately, a cure for all children in this battle with the number ONE disease killer of children.
