So, how did I get roped into this 8 mile sponsored walk setting off at midnight on a Saturday night?!........
My cousin Kerry, text at 11:30 pm one Wednesday evening to ask if I fancied doing the midnight walk for Pendleside Hospice. I decided to give it a go and roped my mum into it also!!! After losing several family members to cancer, Uncle Jack, Grandma, Aunty Jean and Uncle David, of whom some used the hospice services; I feel this is a worthwhile cause.
I was very close to my godmother, Aunty Jean, who died just before my wedding. She fell ill with cancer and was taken into a hospice at the time of her illness when she became too poorly to be looked after at home where she lived in Cornwall. The service and care she received at her local hospice was second to none. She died in June 2005 in peace and with dignity - with one of the hospice nurses holding her hand. It made me realise how vitally important my local hospice is and how their work touches the lives of many people everyday. And without our support this could not happen.
So please do support me on the Midnight Walk - all ladies walking from Turf Moor in Burnley 8 miles (through Burnley to Nelson Wavelengths and back round to Turf Moor) starting at midnight on Saturday 5th June - me and mother will be there! All support and donations are greatly received for the charity.
Many thanks for your support!
