Brighton Marathon 2013 · 14 April 2013 ·

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age every year, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.

Story

Last year I decided I wanted to attempt to beat my previous marathon time and complete the 26.2 miles in under 4 hours.  This is going to be a challenge for me as I haven't really done any serious running since my last marathon 3 years ago.

To help benefit a worthy cause (and keep me motivated) I've decided to raise money for the children's hospice, the Chestnut tree house.

The Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.

They do an amazing job of supporting 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support.

The hospice costs approximately £2 million per year to run. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support donations and fundraising activities.

Any support you can give me to help raise as much money as I can for this amazing charity would be gratefully appreciated no matter how much!!

So wish me luck and see you at the finish line!!
