Story
I am running for Anthony Nolan in memory of my partner's lovely Dad, Laurence, who passed away in February this year. He was diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2014, which was treated but returned in 2016. Anthony Nolan found him a donor and he had a stem cell transplant, which proved to be 100% successful. Sadly, the other treatments he had to undergo alongside the transplant were too much for him to take.
I am so grateful that I got to know him and spend some quality time with him - he was incredibly funny, told brilliant stories, was kind and always warm and welcoming to me. I wanted to run for Anthony Nolan to support the charity that supported him during his illness.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. They won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
