We provide information and support to all those affected by genetic conditions

Story

On 12th May 2024, I will be running the Bracknell Half Marathon, my first ever running event. I have chosen to support Gene People, as it is a charity close to myself and many others’ hearts. My grandma sadly passed away in 2011 due to myotonic dystrophy, and my mum is currently living with it. To keep my grandma’s memory alive and to support my mum and others living with genetic conditions, I have decided to run for this charity.

Gene People help not only those with myotonic dystrophy, but genetic conditions in general, including cystic fibrosis, Down’s syndrome and sickle cell disease. It is estimated that more than 2.4 million children and adults are currently living with a genetic condition, and new conditions are being discovered every day.

I’m not expecting to finish the race particularly quickly, nor am I expecting to raise much money, but if I can offer some level of help to those with genetic disorders then I will be more than happy. Big love, and thank you for your support!! ❤️
