Every year I do “Advent Running” in December - running a minimum of 5km per day from 1st to 25th December and to celebrate the achievement I donate to a good cause.

This year I’m stepping up the challenge. I already run 5km every day so I needed something a bit more special.... so as well as my minimum 5k a day for the rest of the 25 days, I’m including the Lakeland Lapland Virtual Ultra, an event taking place between the 10th and the 22nd December. I have to get (virtually) from Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland to Santa in the village of Korvatunturi, a total of 234km or 145 miles. To make this even more of a challenge I’m planning to do this part of Advent Running on the treadmill!

Not to be outdone, Georgia and Elena (team Tiny Terrors) will also be joining me on the half trek - there’s a virtual bus they can get to the village of Luosto but then the snow gets too deep and they must continue by foot. Between them they have 144km or 89 miles to get to Santa. 

We all have 12 days to reach Santa and save Christmas! 

Epic Kidz is the charity associated with the Epic Events and Lakeland 100 who have organised this challenge. They support volunteer, community and charity groups throughout the North West of England and donate to many fantastic causes including the Christmas toy appeal for children in the NW region. The money I raise will make a massive difference and knowing this will keep me going every time I step on the treadmill!
