I am extremely passionate about the welfare of farm animals- The Farm Animal Sanctuary (which I recently visited) does exactly what I hope to do one day- They save the lives of innocent and terrified farm animals who deserve a chance in life-the same as we give our pet dogs and cats. If you want to help please sponsor me in supporting the hundreds of rescued farm animals that The Farm Animal Sanctuary save each year. They look after them until they are ready to die of old age in a peaceful and loving environment. Please…I have visited these animals, I have heard about their individual stories, it is heart breaking. This extreme cruelty to farm animals is 100% selfish and unnecessary! Please do the right thing and donate now.
Janet Taylor – the Sanctuary’s Founder “Walking into a Worcestershire livestock market one freezing, wet February morning 25 years ago I felt as though I’d passed through the gates of hell. The noise, the frantic bleatings of distressed animals mixed with the loud shouts of men. Sheep running and slipping as they were chased down dirty, wet concrete passageways into pens. Cattle making loud noises of incomprehension as they stood at the top of steep ramps too afraid to move, men moving towards them with sticks. I watched orphan lambs being auctioned, some of them only 48 hours old, hanging motionless as they were held aloft by their front legs to show them off. One small black lamb was carried in in a box by an elderly farmer. The lamb wasn’t moving so the old man was told to take him away as he wouldn’t last until the end of the sale. I handed over £1 and with the lamb held inside my jumper and the car heater turned up high raced him to our vets. He survived hypothermia and dehydration and gut infection. We named him Taro and he lived until he was 15 years old”
Joanna Lumley our patron “When I saw the dreadful photographs that Janet had taken in markets I wept. Sick little orphan baby lambs, some of them only a few days old, freezing cold and hungry, some of who died before they could receive veterinary care. Thin and emaciated old sheep with crippled feet, at the end of their useful life being sold to go forward for Halal slaughter. Frightened, bewildered, gentle cattle being beaten over their heads and backs with thick sticks. Old pigs, so stressed by their surroundings they chewed the bars of their pens until their mouths bled”
The Farm Animal Sanctuary are at risk of being evicted from their farm which is home to over 500 rescued animals! We cannot let this happen-these animals have come from terrifying backgrounds and are so grateful to finally be free from fear! I have seen how happy they are in their secure home-moving would mean undoing all of the hard work the team have done for these animals. Please sponsor me so this doesn't happen.
We don't need to eat animals! People don't eat animals because they must in order to survive. They eat them because they want to. We are subjecting animals to torture, damaging the environment unnecessarily and subjecting ourselves to greater risk of disease just to satisfy a desire, not a need!
