Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.

Many of you who already know me will be as stunned and surprised as I am that I am taking on the challenge of running an actual marathon, all 26.2 miles of it!

I properly started running again when my little boy, Max, was a few months old, and 'getting back into shape' quickly morphed into a couple of 10k's, and then in October last year, my first half marathon. That was when I started to wonder, "Could I do it? Could I actually run a whole marathon?!"....And one crazy night I decided to go for it and signed up for the Edinburgh Marathon.

As it draws closer and the training ramps up, I have started to realise I may just survive it - and so it became a no-brainer that I should raise money for a cause very close to my heart.

As a speciality training doctor at Velindre Cancer Centre, every day I am touched and amazed by the strength of our patients and their families at the hardest time of their lives. I am privileged to work with some amazing doctors,  incredible specialist nurses, and so many other health professionals, whose work is invaluable in supporting our patients through their treatment.

That's why I am raising money for the ATTAC Appeal, which aims to get patients with upper gastrointestinal cancers (such as pancreatic, oesophageal, gastric cancers and cholangiocarcinomas) diagnosed earlier, research and develop new targeted treatment and advanced radiotherapy techniques, and also help and support patients through their journey. After all, running a marathon really is nothing compared to what these families go through, and I have witnessed first hand how charitable funds can make a difference.

Thank you for reading this far, and an even bigger thank you for any donations. They really will keep me going!
