Story

Hi guys,

For those of you that know me, you will know that my mum has suffered from this awful illness for 16 years (amongst other health issues).
For years people have asked me what fibromyalgia was as hey had never heard of it, I could never really describe it very well but here goes...

Fibromyalgia, also called fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.
As well as widespread pain, people with fibromyalgia may also have:
- increased sensitivity to pain
- fatigue (extreme tiredness)
- muscle stiffness
- difficulty sleeping
- problems with mental processes (known as "fibro-fog") – such as problems with memory and concentration
- headaches
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – a digestive condition that causes stomach pain and
- Bloating

Doesn’t sound particularly nice does it??

3.5 years ago (age 29) I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

I among with many others with fibromyalgia I take daily medication to help with the physical and
mental pain caused through the illness. Unfortunately, like lots of drugs there can be severe side
effects such as nausea, dry mouth, sleepiness, constipation, decreased appetite, increased appetite, weight gain and increased sweating..

Within the last two years my dad has also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (amongst many
other health issues).

Whilst the professionals tend to say that this sufferance is not genetic, I along with my mum, auntie
and nan (all same side of the family) have fibromyalgia.

In September 2014 when I was first diagnosed, I was 13 stone and not helped by various medication (to try and find a few to suit) I am now 18 stone so hopefully
having no sugar for 28 whole days will help too.
Those of you that know me will understand how hard this will be for me as I like food, but I am
determined to do this for two good causes

Donating toward my cause will help do more research and raise more awareness of this awful and confused illness.
.

Thank you so much
