Story

Update regarding Afghanistan crisis:

Salusbury World is offering vitally needed support to families with no links or networks in the U.K., families who have lost everything, including their relatives. We are helping them understand how to find work, how to enroll their children in schools, and how to access medical support - in other words, all the essentials of daily living. Right now many Afghans are requesting our support, but the charity is also working with refugees and asylum seekers from more than 35 countries, among them Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Palestine, Bosnia, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Eritrea. Our support helps them overcome trauma and begin to build positive new lives in the U.K.

I've joined the "Kensal Triathlon Team" of over 150 people.  I’ve never done a triathlon before and am hoping to do the team and Salusbury World  proud.

I have chosen Salusbury World as a local charity, as their aims are very close to my heart. They help support  refugee and migrant families to realise their rights and potential in the Kensal Rise area. Their work is effective because our services are joined up to provide integrated educational, social and practical support.

I feel in the present political climate these vital services to help people who have been forced to leave their homes, have been dramatically cut back. I can’t imagine myself being in this situation, and fundraising is something small I can do myself to try and help.

Asylum from conflict and persecution is a universal human right. So are education, family life, adequate living standards and social participation. All children have rights to play and recreation, as well as the active promotion of their full growth and development.

We envisage a future in which schools and communities across the UK work together to protect, fulfil and foster respect for these rights, ensuring that all migrants are welcomed wholeheartedly and empowered to settle, thrive and participate
