Story
Hi There,
11 months ago 46 Unilever colleagues and friends cycled to Gilwern in Wales – 190mile from London! On this journey they raised over £55k for a very good cause.
This year, I will be joining Unilever UK on this amazing journey and cycling over 2 days the same destination with its hilly climbs and descents; beautiful pastures and sheep… and all this with the ambition of raising an even bigger amount of £75k. This means we will raised funding for Get Ahead that will help them to continue with their vital research into a very rare cancer for the next 3 years!
They describe themselves as 'a cancer charity fighting all Head & Neck diseases'. Short films about their work can be found here:

The work they do is truly phenomenal, especially the dignity they can help restore in those battling the disease.
In case you're wondering why this is the charity we support, in August '13 Melanie Jaggard, an inspirational friend and Unilever colleague, lost a long battle against Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a rare and currently incurable disease. Get Ahead did a lot to support Mel and her family thru her illness and have carried out research into trying to cure the disease and continue this work now.
- 2015 key statistics:
- Sponsorship target = £75k
- No of riders = 70
- No of metres of vertical climbing = approx 2400m
- No of miles covered = 193
Please join me on this journey by donating whatever you can afford, even if it is just that kind word of encouragement.
In return, I will keep you posted with photos as I try my first pair of tights, clip into the paddles and strap on the pink helmet!
All the best, and look forward to your support.
