Story
3 years ago today, my son Scott came home having spent 8 months in Southampton Children's Hospital for removal and treatment of a malignant brain tumour. Today, I started a marathon training programme - in a moment of menopausal madness, I signed up to run the 2022 ABP Southampton Marathon to raise money for the Murray Parish Trust's iMRI Suite Appeal.
Intra-operative MRI guides the surgeon when removing a brain tumour - there is a greater chance of totally removing the tumour and a child is more likely to be treated successfully.
Scott is now 6, and whilst we don't yet know what the future holds for him, with each passing day since the end of treatment, we dare to hope just that little bit more. Raising money for the iMRI Suite Appeal will mean that other families of children diagnosed with brain tumours can have that little bit more hope.
