Story

March for Mothers

March for Mothers is a sponsored 5km run and walk to raise awareness and funds to ensure mothers in the world’s poorest communities receive the essential healthcare they deserve.

800 women die every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. News of a pregnancy should be a time of joy and celebration, but for women in poor countries it is often a time of fear. The money raised through this walk can help Health Poverty Action improve access to health services, through mobile clinics and constructed birth waiting homes, whilst training birth attendants in life saving emergency childbirth care. For every £1 raised, 96p goes directly to our programs, ensuring that the resources go to those who need it.

Health Poverty Action aims is to improve access to health services by building mobile clinics and constructed birth waiting homes, training birth attendants in life saving emergency childbirth care including antenatal and postnatal care, and providing facilities with medical equipment and supplies.

The event will be taking place on Saturday 8th August around the Serpentine in Hyde Park at 11:00 AM. (Meet at Bandstand -- Tube: Hyde Park Corner)
