Hello all, so firstly a bit of news from my life, 

On 7 April I’ll be leaving my role at West Yorkshire Combined Authority to take up a new role at NHS England. I’m very excited about the new job, but whilst it will still very much be in the ‘transport’ space, I won’t be directly involved in the coordination of public bus services – something I’ve been doing for the past 20 years – in London, Surrey, York and most recently in West Yorkshire.

Some of you may know that in the past couple of years I’ve got quite into my running. So, to mark my professional move, I’ve decided to have some 'fun' as my time at West Yorkshire draws to a close and to raise some money for this excellent charity. 

By the time I start my new job in mid April, I’m planning to have run the route (in one direction!) of every local bus service operating in the City of York area where I live. That's 24 routes and some 140ish miles...

I don't think anyone has done this before - so who knows, maybe for the first time I can call myself a 'trend-setter' - however niche!!

The charity I'm running for is called 'Simon on the Streets' and offers unlimited emotional and practical support for homeless and vulnerable people in West Yorkshire to enable them to achieve their goals. All of their services are delivered on an outreach basis directly on the streets. 

They deliver their outreach during the day but also in the evening and in the early hours of the morning when many of the most vulnerable are struggling. They want to support an individual to achieve their own goals and aspirations whatever they may be.
