Story

My Great Uncle Richard died after living with Parkinson's for several years. He was bright eyed and mentally astute despite being trapped in his chair.   My old boss, Alan, also lives with early onset Parkinson's and has always been amazingly upbeat despite the affect it has on him.  My daughter, Harriet, researched the impact of dance on people with Parkinson's disease for her Medical Sciences dissertation. It was a sobering but fascinating read.

After spending the first 10 of my 30 days mulling over what to do, I thought - I like maps, walking and biking and I've lost fitness during lockdown. I wonder how many trig points there are in the Peak District to the West of Sheffield? Answer: 30 on the southern half of Sheet 110 Sheffield and Huddersfield. Some only accessible by walking, some by mountain bike/walk, some a road ride and a lean over a hedge for a photo. Four on a 30km walking circuit of Kinder Scout (another 30). I've yet to work out the total challenge in distance and elevation gain but it's big. Best get a wiggle on.
