Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro · 8 November 2010
I am very fortunate to be leading another great group of people up Mount Kilimanjao again this November to raise much needed funds for improved spce and resources for the Sunday School at St Saviours Church Warwick Avenue W9.
We will be leaving London on the 5th of November 2010 and after arriving in Moshi Tanzania we will check our kit and get our briefings from our guides and then set off on the 8th November for the 5 day trek through the highly varied landscape of the mountain. We will be starting in the rainforest area at the base climbing through tundra and hopefully finishing just after dawn on the 4th on the summit above the glaciers and looking down on Africa spread out beneath us.
Two long days walking down will see me sitting in a bar with my fellow climbers swapping stories and enjoying a beer (or maybe two!).
The facilities for children at St Saviours fall significantly below what we want to provide and whilst we have great support and leadership in our Sunday Schools for both younger and older children we really need to create a better space to teach them in, this space is also used by other church and community groups and will be of great benefit to them also.
Any help that you can give large or small would be very much appreciated not only by both myself and my fellow climbers but by all the children of St Saviours and the other users of the church.
