Donations still welcome....
200 miles in 2 days on 2 wheels.
I cycled from Irvine in Ayrshire to Morecambe in Lancashire, in aid of the charity, Bliss, which raises money to help babies born prematurely or ill, or both. It also supports parents.
I did this run in memory of my three children, sons Jackie and Tom and my daughter, Grace, who were born and died in the 90's. My sons Jackie and Tom were born and died in Lancaster, Grace was born in Irvine at 24 weeks and died after a week.
The route was from Irvine in Ayrshire to Morecambe in Lancashire, via Kilmarnock, Mauchline, Kirkconnel, Sanquhar, Dumfries and stopping overnight in Carlisle, then on day 2, through the Lake District via The Kirkstone Pass, Windermere, Kendal and on to Morecambe. The distance will be at least 190 miles, I aim to do it in 2 days.
I did it on September 5th and 6th, 2016. My eldest son was born and died on September 6th, 1995, his brother on September 7th, 1996, their sister was born on February 28th, 1999, she died on March 7th.
I live in Irvine, my hometown, I lived and worked in Morecambe in the 1990's.
