The main purpose of AKPA is to help improve the quality of life for patients who are being treated for kidney disease at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and its satellite dialysis units. They provide financial and welfare support for kidney patients and campaign to improve their conditions.

I am organising and supporting an attempt to do a challenge walk of 40 miles in one day, crossing the North York Moors National Park from West to East. This famous challenge uses moorland tracks and is almost entirely off roads while crossing the moors at its highest and widest part from Osmotherley in the West to Ravenscar in the East.

There is about 4000ft o f ascent during the walk and it is expected to take about 15 hours. Teams from Addenbrookes dialysis Unit and other independent groups are coming together to do their best to complete this tough challenge.

The AKPA is a small charity with many of the trustees having kidney issues of their own and we are asking for you support to help the hundred of people who have to spend a substantial part of their lives attached to a dialysis machine to stay alive.

Thanks for your support
