The Mace Foundation is our charity, established in 2012 to help Mace people support the charities and causes that matter most to them. Your charity, your choice. All around the world, we’re helping Mace colleagues to leave a lasting legacy and making a positive impact in their local communities.

Story

The Charity

I’m riding for the Mace Foundation which was launched in November 2012. As a charitable company it works to enhance and increase the support Mace offers to disadvantaged people and communities, recognising our ever increasing wider role and responsibility as a company, and a commitment to the legacy of the projects we deliver.

Mace has actively contributed to charities and not-for-profit organisations for a number of years and we want to continue the great work already undertaken in a number of different ways through three specific campaigns: education and employment; communities; and health and wellbeing.

The Foundation will invest in various ways including through strategic partnerships, individual charity support and one-off grants, and actively collaborate with our supply chain and key clients. The funding for the Foundation will come from three primary sources through donations, company contributions and fundraising events.

The Challenge.

The challenging and truly stunning cycling adventure takes us through the spectacular mountains and lakes of Northern Italy, roads synonymous with the triumphs and suffering of the great heroes of professional cycling.

In a Mace team I will be attempting to tackle the legendary climbs of the Passo di Gavia (2621m) and the short but fearfully steep Passo di Mortirolo. A brief detour into Switzerland brings us back over the Passo dello Stelvio (2758m) – the second-highest paved mountain pass in Europe, and one of the most impressive roads in the Alps!

Our epic ride ends at Lake Como, with wonderful views and one last climb of the Madonna del Ghisallo, with its small but famous cyclists’ chapel.

In Summary - 4 days of pain as the Activity Cycle Grade: (Intense) Duration: 5 days - for people before meters we are climbing a total of 45,683 feet of physical leg turning climbing. (ouch)
