After 14 year break Im dusting off my running shoes, and running the London marathon on 2nd October.
Im proud to have been given a place by the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS), which is the leading charity for deaf children, helping every deaf child who needs them – no matter what their level or type of deafness or how they communicate.
This charity is very close to my heart, as my youngest son William was diagnosed as severe to profoundly deaf at birth. Thanks to the amazing audiology team at Southend Hospital William has developed in to an amazing teenager with the voice and heart of an angel.
William is now about to face the next part of his hearing journey, as he transfers from hearing aids to cochlear implants. This will be a lengthy and testing transition for William, but hopefully opens up more opportunities for him as he enters his teenage years. William never complains, and handles all of his disabilities with such humility and positivity. He’s a true role model and my hero.
Running 26.2 miles to support a wonderful charity and in honour of my little William is an honour and worth all the time, effort and pain.
Thank you for your kind donation.
