As many of you know, I lost my wonderful father earlier this year after an immensely brave two year battle with oesophageal cancer.
Dad was diagnosed with terminal stage four cancer in March 2017 with a fairly bleak outlook on treatment - in the words of the Oncologist at the London Clinic "pretty much as bad as it gets". As ever with Dad he did some methodical research and decided he wanted to be treated under Prof. Cunningham at the Marsden, a dedicated cancer hospital in Chelsea. The amazing work of Cunningham and the Oncology team at the Marsden gave us two unexpected years together and words do no justice to the gratitude we as a family owe them. Furthermore, the care he received from incredible nurses on the Marcus Ward was second to none and unquestionably made the multiple stays in hospital bearable.
I desperately want to give something back to this amazing hospital so on September 21st along with Ollie, Sam, and Tom we will be attempting the
Trailwalker 2019 - the ultimate team endurance event. The challenge is to walk, jog or run 100km (62 miles)
non-stop across the South Downs Way in under 30 hours in a team of four. Between us we have run marathons and completed Iron Men but from the training we have done it is clear this will be significantly tougher.
We are raising money in Dads memory for the
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity which raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden and would be so grateful for any donations you can give.
Thank you so much. xx
