Katharine House provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire. We provide inpatient services, specialist nurses out in the community, a Living Well programme, a specialist hospital team and bereavement support.

Story

In June 2019, Andrew (husband to Elaine, father to Ellis and Danielle and brother-in-law to James) was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we were given such a small amount of time left with him. He passed away peacefully at Katherine House Hospice in December 2019 after receiving such tentative and personal care.

We, as family, would like to fundraise for Katherine House Hospice as the support we received from everyone there was amazing, not only to Andrew, but to the extended family as well. Without Katherine House Hospice our final few days with Andrew would have been so very different.

Elaine, Ellis, Danielle and James are fundraising for Katherine House Hospice by taking part in a sponsored zip wire. The zip wire in question is the longest in the world, and reaches speeds in excess of 100mph, which to some sounds like fun, but not if you’re scared of heights like most of us are.

Only a quarter of Katherine House Hospice’s required income is funded by the government, which means £3m is required to be raised from donations each year in order for the hospice to remain open. Please help support us in our quest to raise money in their aid so other families can receive the same level of support from them as we did.
