Event: Tokyo Marathon 2015, on 22 February 2015
We provide children's hospice care to children and families across Sussex

Story

It's hard to explain the motivation for running 26.2 miles.  It's even harder to justify why you want to travel 6000 miles to do it, but that's my personal challenge: running the 2015 Tokyo marathon.

So the story is that I've completed five of the top six international marathons, collectively known as the 'Marathon Majors'. The streets of London, New York, Chicago, Berlin and Boston are behind me. Tokyo is the final chapter.

I want this event to make a real difference to Chestnut Tree House, a children's hospice in Sussex. I'd never really given much thought to what the term 'life-limiting condition' meant, but that all changed in 2011 when my son Michael was diagnosed with a rare degenerative condition.

The Chestnut Tree House website tells you that they provide essential respite and end of life care to over 300 children and their families. I can tell you that the work that they do for these kids is nothing short of heroic and magical, but naturally you need a bit more than magic to run a hospice. That's where I really need your help.

Over my 17 marathons, covering 445.4 miles, the extraordinary generosity of people like you has helped me to raise over £50k for a range of great charities.

Extraordinary people, supporting an extraordinary event, over an extraordinary distance to make a difference to an extraordinary group of children.

Now surely that's all the motivation you need to run 26.2 miles around Tokyo?

Thank you for your donation.
