Marathon Row to Help us Build a Gym! · 3 February 2019 ·

16 of our heroic adult and junior members will be rowing for 26 miles to raise funds for a new gym at FRBC. The gym will be available to the 2,000 participants at FRBC each year and ensure that we remain an asset to the whole community.

Story

On Sunday 3 February 2019, to raise money for charity, I rowed in a quad sculling boat from West London to the Houses of Parliament and back over a course of 26 miles.

Fulham Reach Boat Club is a UK registered charity providing rowing to state secondary school students and the local community.

It provides much needed sports facilities to inner city schools with limited space of their own and during a time when funding is increasingly stretched.

During the 2017/2018 academic year they coached over 1,100 students from 15 state schools across Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea (diversity 45% female, 40% BAME) with excellent feedback from students.

If you’d like to learn more about Fulham Reach Boat Club and their work, there is an excellent video on YouTube and their website below.

FRBC is in partnership with the Boat Race, Future Blues, to create a boat club in each of the 52 state schools that border the Championship Course.

All participants in the Marathon are rowing to raise funds for a gym at the club.
