PTSD resolution (charity No. 1133188) do incredibly valuable work in supporting Veterans, Reservists and their families manage trauma suffered during service in the armed forces. Their programme is community-based, led by counselling through a nationwide network of 200 accredited therapists. What makes their service particularly good is its in place quickly and gets to the point. There are no waiting lists and therapy is brief, with an average of just three to four one-hour sessions which is conducted on a confidential out-patient basis. The outcomes are really positive with more than 80% success rate, helping veterans re-integrate into civilian life after service and stay engaged with family and work thereafter. This helps deter them from the suicidal tendencies, substance abuse, homelessness and destructive behaviour that is pronounced in the ex-forces community, and reflected in the 20,000 veterans reportedly within the prison or probation system.
