At Asthma + Lung UK, our vision is for a world where everyone has healthy lungs. From research and campaigning to advice and support, as the UK’s lung charity we’re on a mission to change the way that lung health is perceived. Because breath is life - and that’s worth fighting for.

Story

Having had to give up on the main attempt to get all the way round the island in 36 hours, yesterday we walked the final stretch. 35 miles from Menai Bridge to St Ffraid's, Trearddur Bay. We did it in 9 hours 38 minutes, with grandchildren Gwenno and Elis joining us for a fast 1.5miles to the finishing line. Massive thanks to all supports, sponsors and the teams at BLF in London and BLF Cymru in Cardiff - and to those who looked after us along the way.

All done and dusted - but if you've got a few pounds to push us over the £5000 mark we'd be really grateful.

At 4am on July 9th, dad and daughter, Andy and Rachel, set out from St Cybi's churchyard in Holyhead to walk a 100 mile route  around Anglesey and home to Trearddur Bay (St Ffraid's Church). All went well over the toughest sections of the walk - clifftops, steep climbs, rocky beaches and remote sections of North and East Anglesey. We negotiated Red Wharf Bay in the pitch dark with only headtorches and a hand held GPS to navigate the dangerous bay. And then, at just gone 2am, walking down the street in Beaumaris a sharp pain hit Andy's knee. We tried walking it off for a further 6 miles to Llanfairpwll, but at 4am, having done 66 miles we had to give in. So frustrating as the energy was still there are we were well on schedule to finish within the 36 hours

Pulmonary Fibrosis, Asthma, lung cancer, and lung collapse are all conditions that have affected our family and friends in recent years. British Lung foundation do great work in research and helping those who suffer with lung problems.

If you can spare a few pounds to sponsor us we'd be hugely grateful.
