Just over 4 and a half years ago my mum at the young age of 66yrs old had a seizure in the night and was rushed into hospital. After 5 months in hospital she was diagnosed with rapid onset of Alzheimer’s. Her condition deteriorated rapidly and was transferred to a nursing home where she now receives one-to-one nursing care. My mum is the person along with my dad ( who life has been turned upside down due to the effects of this disease on my mum and their whole lives) who is inspiring me to drive towards complete these personal goals.
As a lot of you already know I have already ran the Liverpool marathon twice and last year the London marathon to raise money for BRACE. I am running this London marathon again this year and I have decided that this will be my final fund raising marathon!
Through my other fund raising efforts I have realised how many peoples families have been affected by this devastating disease. I hope that in continuing to raise money into the research into this disease it will contribute to a cure or possibly a way to slow the effects it has on the not only the person but their family and friends also.
I would be extremely grateful for any support you can give me to reach the finish line, whether it be financial or physical. If any of you wish to support me in my training I would always appreciate a training partner/s on my longer runs this would be especially motivating with the wet deary days we have been experiencing of late!
Thank you all for taking the time to support me.
