I'm playing in a 65 hour World Record football match for St Luke's Hospice Plymouth because they are a very worthy cause · 3 May 2012

St Luke's Hospice Plymouth provides end of life care in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. It is the generosity of the caring community and people like you who enable over 300 people and their families at any given time access to this specialist support through the toughest of times.

Story

On the 3rd of May at 7pm a group of 36 students from the University College St Mark and St John will be attempting to break the world record for the longest game of football ever played on the all-weather astro pitch. The record currently stands at 60 hours which is held by students from Loughborough University.

We aim to complete the new record of 65 hours at 12pm on Sunday the 6 of May which would be the equivalent to completing a full premiership season plus a successful FA Cup run.

There will be two teams of 18 players, one named St Mark and the other St John, with roll on roll off substitutes throughout the 65 hours. The players have already been in training and this will continue right up to the event. Each player that has agreed to play has also agreed to try and raise £200. This money will be put together and will be donated to our chosen charity, St Luke's Hospice. This is a charity that all the students feel is a very worthy cause and they are all very excited to take part in the event.

We are also inviting Sky Sports News, Sky News, BBC News and ITV News to cover the event as well as local newspapers and radio.
