Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
We are running the Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon on Jan 10th and 11th 2010 in Oralndo Florida!!!!!!
We have decided that not only is this a fantastic excuse to have a holiday but an opportunity to raise funds for charity and the charity we have chosen is the HIGHLAND HOSPICE.
Most of you reading this will know why we are running for the Highland Hospice, for those of you who don't Suzanne's Mum, Roseanne has been fighting cancer for 7years , inititally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 age 52 then re-diagnosed in 2005 with secondary cancer in her bones. The diagnosis of Terminal cancer was a shock for all of us knowing that her cancer was never going to be cured.
The Hospice has been an excellent support for my mum and all the family. They have provided treatment, care and support for her that has been amazing and in my opinion has helped her continue to fight ( she has always been stubborn and doesn't give up easily !) she has stayed on the in patient unit on a number of occassions as well attending the day hospice on a weekly basis.
The importance of the Hospice to us as a family is very difficult to try and describe, all i can really say is that it keeps us all going when mum is having a rough ride !!! The staff make us feel included, supported and welcome when we are in to visit and the kids are made welcome, even though they are not the quietest ! Euan loves the juice, biscuits and the fact he can help himself and Cara likes the TV and electric beds and they both love the big fish tank!!!!!
We don't want this page to be full of doom and gloom but want you to know the importance of the service that the hospice provides
Andy is doing the Marathon and I ( Suzanne) am doing the Half Marathon !!!!!
Andy has completed 2 marathons before and is a regular runner and I haven't run the length of myself for quite a significant period of time, so training has started in earnest and with a bit of determination I will finish even if I have to crawl over the line ( I want the donald duck medal if the truth be known !).
Andy completed the WDW half marathon in his kilt on our last trip to Florida 3 years ago, he is now 3 years older and may have to leave the kilt at home this time !!!! he will decide nearer the time
The Hospice has provided a huge amount of support for us and this is why we are supporting them, please help us raise as much money as possible to give something back and help them to continue to provide such an excellent service for my mum and other patients with terminal illness and their families
We appreciate all the support and encouragment .
Many thanks
Suzanne & Andy
