The Blue Cross Animal Welfare Charity - Dharamsala Trek 2010 · 21 October 2010 ·

Sick, injured and homeless pets have relied on us since 1897. Thousands of abandoned or unwanted, ill or injured, pets turn to us for help every year. Our doors are always open to them, and with your support, they always will be.

Story

Imagine the scenario, it's late August and your sporty, well-groomed ginger neighbour says,

'Hey Andy, are you up for a challenge?'

Being sweet, innocent and amazing, you reply,

' Yes' with out questioning.

'Good', say's Jonny 'You'd better build up some strength so you don't get blown off the path, because we're going to India to trek 60km at about 3500m above sea level for The Blue Cross!'

Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for The Blue Cross.

The Blue Cross

Mission Statement:-

To ensure the welfare of companion animals by providing practical care, highlighting the benifits of companionship between animals and people and promoting reasonsibility towards animals in the community.

They strive to:-

Treat the animals of owners who cannot afford private veterinary services.
Find permanent homes for unwanted or abandoned animals.
Educate the public in responsible animal ownership.
Promote the benefits to humans of companion animal ownership.
Ensure that no healthy animal in our care is put to sleep simply for want of a home.

Today nearly 500 full and part-time staff are employed, the vast majority of whom work in the network of animal adoption centres and animal hospitals. The Blue Cross also rely on the support of hundreds of volunteers. The Blue Cross is funded entirely through donations, legacies and other voluntary support.
