On 3rd September 2014, our beautiful 16 year old daughter, Emily Alice, very sadly lost her battle for life to mitochondrial disease.

Emily was a fun-loving, beautiful girl, who despite all her struggles had the most radiant smile and touched many people's hearts with the strength and courage she showed throughout her illness. Words cannot explain how much she is missed and there is an emptiness in our lives that will never be filled.

In her memory, we are asking anyone who knew Emily if they are able to make a donation to The Lily Foundation, the charity that raises funds specifically for mitochondrial disease and other metabolic disorders. Please also visit their website to read about mitochondrial disease and help to raise awareness of this dreadful disease. Sadly for Emily there was nothing that could be done, but there is much hope for the future for other children who may be affected by mitochondrial disease.
