In January this year a friend and neighbour received devastating news that she had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Rachel who is 37 and has 3 children is a former nurse at Claire House Children's Hospice. 

The Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI) is a charity dedicated to improving the nursing care of people like Rachel who are battling with illness or disease in their own homes. Rachel was part of a specialist nursing team providing care and support in both the hospice and family home so knows the importance of this work. The QNI have supported Rachel and her family during this difficult time. QNI is not part of the NHS and receives no regular Government funding so relies on charitable donations to continue their work promoting excellent nursing care in homes and communities.
