Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 8th May 2011, I ran my first 10K with two great friends, Lynn Penman and June MacDonald, to raise funds for Mallaig RLNI in memory of my dad..
We ran as "The Good , the Bad and the Ugly".... NO comments please !!!!.. and had great fun , running 10K through puddles, whilst torrential rain hit us from above. We acheived our goal of completing in 1Hr 30 minutes ... and not a dry piece of clothing left ..
A very fitting tribute to my Dad ( Wee John)....
Dad has gone but his boat still sits in the bay at Tighnamara , Back of Keppoch, Arisaig…. A fitting tribute to the life he lived…
Small in stature but a GIANT in our lives and those who`s live`s he touched…..
Dad was reason, logic and sense…. He was wisdom whether you needed it or not… but he was generally correct !
To his grandchildren he was a caring, compassionate and sincere ...
All with unconditional love
His untimely and sudden departure from our lives on 29th November 2010 left a huge void .
To me, the loss of a wonderful precious dad and granddad, husband to my mum, is insurmountable, however, this is not about my loss, huge though it is......
Massive is the loss to the many others whose lives he touched and shared too.
Family was the most important word in his vocabulary and in the life he lived.
Second only to his family, dad loved the sea and we all grew up with “sea legs “ borne from a very early age from our second home at our beloved Arisaig retreat.
We have all been very fortunate as a family to spend some 5 fab decades sharing dad`s passion for the sea, extending year on year, from paddling at the shore`s edge to sailing, fishing , crab and lobster potting, wilking and enjoying the calm beauty to the rugged stormy wild nature of the sea.
( I do believe an RNLI rescue on a minor scale occurred some years ago !!! )
Despite his passion for adventure on the high seas, dad liked nothing more than to share tales of his high sea escapades, back on shore, amidst us all, his precious family.
Mum`s desire, in recognition of dad`s passion for the sea and the love he bestowed on family and friends , is to commemorate memory of his life to the work that the RLNI commit to in the dedication of saving lives at sea.
A fitting tribute to Wee John indeed…….
Thanks from the Family x
