Story
Hi all!
My name is Angie and I have recently been accepted to take part in a unique yet challenging experience. I have thankfully been chosen as a participant on the International Citizen Service (ICS) alongside their agency - Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) which are organisations that help some of the poorest countries in the world with the aid of young volunteers from the UK.
I have been selected to go to Bangladesh for three months starting at the end of July. During this time I will be living with a local family in a small village called Rampal, where I will have the opportunity to personally help impoverished communities increase their civic engagement. In other words, me and a team of volunteers will be campaigning against social issues such as child marriages, as well as promoting education on sexual health and political involvement through community projects with locals.
As part of my commitment, I have been asked to fundraise £800 for the cause in order for me to go. I’m fundraising in support of all VSO funded projects, which benefit around 2 million people every year. By donating to my page you are contributing towards the costs of the necessary resources needed to carry out these projects, enabling VSO to continue to dismantle poverty and change the world through the power of volunteering.
This journey is a challenge I have decided to take on because I have realised that simply being angry about poverty is not enough to solve it. Thus with your contribution, action to fight it will be possible.
No matter the amount, it will go a long way.
Thank you for donating to my VSO fundraising page!!
