Story

For those that don't know me, I'm Angie Robinson, born on the Isle of Man, escaped in 1987 to the UK and then emigrated to Australia in 1994.  I returned to the isle in 2014.

When I returned to the island I contacted my dear friend Michael George for some Parish Walk "tips." Michael suggested that I train with his wife Irene and her friend Teri.  Thankfully they agreed for me to join them and so our friendship began. I felt so proud that I was rubbing shoulders with wives of famous Parish finishers, Jock and Michael and I hoped for some secret inside information that would help me achieve a finish.  Teri and Irene entertained me for hours with their stories of beastly hills, al fresco toilet stops and their favourite foods for on route.  They inspired me to believe that I could do it.  In 2015 I got to Bride and the following year I finished.

On 13th May 2020, beautiful Teri Waddington passed away following  a very brave and dignified battle with cancer.  Teri was the same age as me, 53 years young. Teri and Jock had recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.  They had the future to plan and to look forward to until this unforgiving disease came calling and took a young, selfless, caring, happy and beautiful lady away from her family and friends.

At times like this, you feel that you want to do something but not sure what.  So... with what would have been the Parish day fast approaching and it having such a significance to Teri and Jock and the fact that I've remained fit throughout lock down, I am doing this challenge with the sole intention of raising funds for hospice in memory of Teri.  Every turn of the pedals I will be thinking of smiling happy Teri and her love for life, family and friends.  I also intend to have  a lot of fun along the way!

Look out for me on my bike that will "pimped up" for the big day!!!

Jock told me, "hospice were brilliant with us right from the start."

Funds raised for Hospice ensures that they can continue to offer their services free of charge to patients, their friends and carers as each year they need to fundraise over 4.5 million pounds towards their running costs.
