Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On the 25th of November, a few of us at the University of York will be making and selling lots of sweet treats in aid of a very worthy cause (come and visit us between 10 and 3 if you're about and feeling peckish!) I've decided to raise money for the Abortion Support Network because as a feminist, human rights activist and Irish citizen, I am ashamed of Ireland and Northern Ireland's denial of women's reproductive rights. No one should have to travel to access healthcare, but it is a sad reality for many living on the island of Ireland. Those from lower socio-economic groups are disproportionately targeted under restrictive abortion laws. Many lack the financial means to travel and resort to dangerous methods as a result. Banning abortion doesn't stop it from happening - it only increases the prevalence of unsafe abortions and puts women's lives' further at risk. 

The Abortion Support Network are a small, volunteer-led charity that provide much needed support, assistance and information to those in need of it. Any money raised will go towards providing immediate, practical help to Irish and Northern Irish citizens.
