Thames Path Challenge 2018 · 8 September 2018 to 9 September 2018 ·

WOMA is a charitable trust with a clear focus, made up of a small team with experience of working in Africa. Our aim is to help women across Africa who have been widowed or disadvantaged through war, famine or hiv/aids. We give small educational/training grants to individual women in order to help them gain skills that will help them support themselves and their families. Even the most modest donation can help lift them out of poverty and give them a real chance to fend for themselves.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A personal challenge for me as in 2003 whilst training for the London Marathon I sustained an injury which led to 8 orthopaedic surgeries to both of my legs (they're not very pretty to look at). Twelve years later I have overcome my disability with a new treatment and am now fighting fit and am going to push myself to the limit (well almost) for a good cause.

This year I am solely supporting a small charity (which I came across by accident) where there are no overheads and where all the money goes directly to those who need it most.

WOMA (www.womatrust.org) is a charitable trust with a clear focus, made up of a small team experienced in working in East Africa. It seeks to help women who are widowed or estranged as a result of war, famine or HIV / AIDS to go to college, learn to become tailors and textile designers and set up their own businesses and become independent entrepreneurs lifting them out of poverty and giving them the chance to fend for themselves.

£500 will transform a woman's life (and their children's lives). It really isn't much but I will be grateful for every penny raised.

Linda and Debs my personal trainers (they are not really) will be doing the challenge with me which will be lovely for them! Nine hours of my incessant chat may push them over the edge......which is another excellent reason to sponsor me!

I will be genuinely grateful for any donations given.

Warm regards,

AP
