Please support my London marathon run by donating to Burton YMCA - a charity providing much needed support and accommodation for the homeless and people in crisis.

I was lucky enough to win a London marathon place in a ballot at my running club, Washlands Women Runners. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to experience what will be a wonderful & challenging day out!

Whilst this is not a charity place, I wanted to raise some awareness and funds for a brilliant branch of the YMCA in my home town Burton on Trent. They provide for the homeless and those in need including accommodation, food and essential items along with guidance and support.

Here are some facts and figures about Burton YMCA

• They have 71 beds across 3 housing sites - rooms, self contained flats, and 3 emergency beds
• 158 people have sought help for housing so far this year - homeless, or at risk of homelessness
• Preparing a room for a client to move in costs £75
• A move in starter kit costs £30 and contains a new towel, bed linen & quilt, saucepan, cutlery, and 2 x plates, cups and bowls
• An emergency food parcel costs £24.46 and contains 28 food items - over 2000 have been issued during the first 8 months of 2022
• A replacement birth certificate for ID purposes is £15
• Family mediation is having the highest number of referrals to date as families are struggling post lockdown and with the cost of living pressures
