In 2005 both my brother (then 25 years old) and my mother were diagnosed with different forms of arthritis. Arthritis in all its forms is a crippling disorder, which put a complete halt to both their very active lives, and caused them immense pain. Management of the condition through the use of recently developed drugs has meant that, although tempered, they now live very full and active lives, experiencing few of the symptoms they had when they were first diagnosed.

Anna and I are running 7 coastal marathons (very very hilly) in 7 months (see www.endurancelife.com for more info) to raise money for The Arthritis Research Campaign (www.arc.org.uk), the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to researching and curing arthritis. Their work has helped my family as well as currently helping over 9million others, and funding hundreds of research projects into the condition. They are solely reliant on voluntary donations.
